We Have A Whole Book!

On January 22, 2019 our book, Hands Up!, entered the world for people to read and enjoy! I say we, not with a royal emphasis hehe, to make sure I’m including all of the people like the book’s illustrator Shane W. Evans, the book’s designer Jasmin Rubero and my incredible editor Dana Chidiac, who worked to get this book out there for readers all over the world (shout out to my friends in the UK!) to find joy and grace in its pages.

I’ve been amazed by the responses to the book! So far we have 3 starred reviews, one from Publishers Weekly , another from School Library Journal and the last one from Shelf Awareness . We Need Diverse Books published an interview that I completed with Edith Campbell, a noted children’s literature blogger, that you can find here. Brightly also posted a blog post I wrote about my inspiration for the book. Mashable included Hands Up! on their list of 17 Books Every Activists Should Read in 2019 and Forbes.com included our book on their list of The 10 Most Anticipated of 2019, According To Independent Bookstores.

I’m grateful for all of the opportunities I have available to me now and in the future, but I’m especially grateful for all of the wonderful people supporting this book and its happy travels!
